It really depends on what level of reactivity. If your dog is unable to be in a group setting with other dogs to the point where they can can overpower your leash handling skills and could be dangerous, I would schedule an in-person session before registering for the group class so we can start to make some progress on that first.
If your dog is reactive but has had engaging moments with you with proper distance from other dogs, they are welcome to join the class. We have had reactive dogs that have done excellent in the class with the right amount of distance to start and then I can slowly bring them in closer to the group as they start to settle.
It's not a problem! I make adjustments as needed for the pups that need more space and then we can gradually bring them closer and closer as they are having success. We start each class with a warm up to get the pups comfortable, settled with the group, and engaging with their owners before jumping in to the hard stuff!
No, all dogs must be on leash. Your dog may progress to a long line during the recall portions of the workshop but they must be leashed at all times and have enough distance where they cannot be nose to nose with any other dogs enrolled in the class.
Your registration is for 1 dog per workshop, if you'd like to alternate and bring a different dog with you each session you can do that but you won't be able to bring them at the same time unless multiple registrations are purchased.
Absolutely, bring whoever you'd like to class! You two can go through the exercises together with your dog or alternate, totally up to you!
Please bring food or treats for your pup, a tug toy, poop bags, water, collar, and two leashes - standard length leash (4ft - 8ft) and a long line (10ft-30ft). If you run out of treats, or forget a toy or long line I will have some extras!
Class is held at Southside Park in Downtown Sacramento. When you submit your registration you'll receive a confirmation text that includes a screenshot of Southside Park to show the exact class location so you can easily find us once you arrive.
I'd like you to bring a standard leash (4ft-8ft) and a long line (10ft+) to the class. As for collar vs harness, bring whatever your dog is comfortable in. Please make sure the collar or harness is properly fit so that your dog cannot get out of their equipment and that the equipment does ensure that your dog cannot pull you to greet another dog.
The 5 week workshop will return as soon as we have some more consistency in our weekend schedules! We will continue with the registration for 1 workshop at a time through October.
